Dividing Radicals Calculator
Divide two real roots with independently chosen positive integer indices.
Formula
Q = ⁿ√a / ᵐ√b; for equal indices, ⁿ√a / ⁿ√b = ⁿ√(a/b) where defined
Numerator root ≈ (1-2×(0))×abs((72))^(1÷(2))÷(1-(0)×(1-((2)-2×floor((2)÷2)))) · Denominator root ≈ (1-2×(0))×abs((8))^(1÷(2))÷(1-(0)×(1-((2)-2×floor((2)÷2)))) · Quotient ≈ (8.485281374)÷(2.828427125)
How to use
- Enter numerator radicand a and index n.
- Enter denominator radicand b and index m.
- Read both real roots and their quotient.
Examples
- ³√(−64)/√16 = −1.
Frequently asked questions
May the indices differ?
Yes. Each root is evaluated separately before division.
Are negative radicands allowed?
Only for odd indices; real even roots of negative numbers are rejected.
Can the denominator root be zero?
No. Division by zero is undefined. Decimal answers approximate irrational roots.
