Percentile calculator
Find the value at a chosen percentile using the R7 method.
Formula
Sort x; h = 1 + (n−1) × p/100; interpolate between adjacent ranks.
Percentile p (%) = 25
How to use
- Enter the numbers separated by semicolons.
- Enter a percentile from 0 to 100.
- Read the interpolated value.
Examples
- 10;20;30;40 at P25 gives 17.5.
- 10;20;30;40 at P50 gives 25.
Frequently asked questions
Why can other calculators disagree?
Percentile conventions differ. This tool uses R7, described in the NIST reference.
What do 0 and 100 return?
The minimum and maximum; 50 gives the median.
How should I enter data?
Separate numbers with semicolons or newlines. Use a decimal point and no digit grouping. Limit: 200 values.
How do I calculate deciles?
Decile k is percentile 10k for k=1…9. This tool uses R7; calculators using the (n+1) rule can differ.
