PPM Calculator
Scale a nonnegative ratio without changing its mass, volume, mole or other basis.
Formula
ppb = ppm × 1,000; ratio = ppm ÷ 1,000,000; % = ppm ÷ 10,000.
Parts per million ≈ (1) · Parts per billion (10⁹) ≈ (1)×1000 · Decimal ratio ≈ (1)÷1000000 · Percentage ≈ (1)÷10000
How to use
- Choose ppm or ppb.
- Enter the value on a known ratio basis.
- Read the same ratio in all four formats.
Examples
- 2,500 ppb = 2.5 ppm = 0.00025%.
Frequently asked questions
How many ppb are in 1 ppm?
1 ppm equals 1,000 ppb; ppb here means one part in 10⁹.
Can I mix mass and volume bases?
No. Scaling preserves the basis. mg/L needs additional information such as solution density.
Are all numbers valid concentrations?
No. This is a ratio converter. A constituent mass or mole fraction must lie from 0 to 1; the tool also accepts larger general ratios.
