Renal GFR Calculator
Estimate adult eGFR from standardized serum creatinine with the race-free 2021 CKD-EPI equation.
Formula
142×min(SCr/κ,1)^α×max(SCr/κ,1)^−1.2×0.9938^age×F; male κ=0.9, α=−0.302, F=1; female κ=0.7, α=−0.241, F=1.012.
Estimated GFR ≈ 142×min((1)÷0.7,1)^(-0.241)×max((1)÷0.7,1)^(-1.2)×0.9938^(40)×1.012
How to use
- Use an IDMS-standardized creatinine result in mg/dL.
- Enter adult age and equation sex.
- Discuss the estimate with your clinician.
Examples
- Male, age 40, creatinine 0.9 mg/dL: eGFR about 110.7.
Frequently asked questions
What if the lab uses µmol/L?
Divide by 88.4 before entering mg/dL. Never enter an unconverted value.
Can it diagnose kidney disease or set doses?
No. Not for acute kidney injury, pregnancy or children. Creatinine–cystatin C and clinical context may improve assessment.
Is this medical advice?
For reference only; it does not replace a clinician.
