Tank Volume Calculator
Find liquid volume, full capacity and empty space in an upright cylindrical tank with flat ends.
Formula
Capacity = πr²H; liquid = πr²h; space = capacity − liquid; 0 ≤ h ≤ H
Internal radius r: 0.5 m · Full internal height H: 1 m · Liquid depth h: 0.5 m · Full capacity ≈ pi×(0.5 m)^2×(1 m) · Liquid volume ≈ pi×(0.5 m)^2×min((0.5 m),(1 m)) · Empty space ≈ (0.7853981634)-(0.3926990817)
How to use
- Enter internal radius and full height.
- Enter liquid depth measured from the bottom.
- Read liquid volume and remaining space.
Examples
- r = 1 m, H = 2 m, h = 1 m: liquid ≈ 3.141593 m³.
Frequently asked questions
Which tank shape is supported?
An upright circular cylinder with flat ends and constant internal radius.
Do I enter radius or diameter?
Radius is half the internal diameter. Use internal dimensions, excluding wall thickness.
Can fill exceed the tank height?
No. Fill depth must be from zero to full internal height; larger depths are rejected.
