Unit price calculator
Compare two prices per common unit of quantity, such as per kg, liter or item.
Formula
Unit price = package price / quantity; difference = unit price A − unit price B.
A price per common unit ≈ (6)÷(2) · B price per common unit ≈ (10)÷(4) · Unit price difference A − B ≈ (3)-(2.5)
How to use
- Enter both package prices in the same currency.
- Convert both quantities to the same unit before entering them.
- Compare unit prices; a negative difference means A costs less.
Examples
- A costs 6 for 2 kg; B costs 10 for 4 kg: 3/kg versus 2.5/kg.
Frequently asked questions
Can I mix grams and kilograms?
No. Convert first, such as 500 g to 0.5 kg, then use kg for both.
Does a lower unit price mean better value?
Only on price; quality, waste and the quantity you need also matter.
Are quantities allowed to be zero?
No. Dividing by zero cannot give a unit price.
