Vinyl fence calculator
Count panels and posts for one straight, open vinyl fence run using installed post spacing.
Formula
Panels = ceil(run / spacing); posts = panels + 1; line posts = panels − 1.
Run between end-post centers: 100 ft · Full-panel post spacing: 8 ft · Panels ≈ ceil((100 ft × 0.3048 m/ft)÷(8 ft × 0.3048 m/ft)×(1-8.881784197001252e-16)) · Total posts ≈ (13)+1 · Line posts ≈ (13)-1 · End posts ≈ 2
How to use
- Measure between the centers of the two end posts.
- Enter full-panel center-to-center spacing from the kit guide.
- Read counts; allow for cutting the final panel.
Examples
- 100 ft at 8 ft centers needs 13 panels and 14 posts.
Frequently asked questions
Is spacing the panel width?
Not necessarily. Freedom’s guide adds panel and post widths; use your kit’s installed center spacing.
Does this include gates or corners?
No. This is one straight open run with two ends. Plan each segment and shared corner posts separately.
Can every final panel be cut?
Follow the kit’s minimum cut width and support instructions. Caps, concrete and hardware are separate.
