Wheel offset calculator
Find the mounting face offset from the wheel centerline.
Formula
Offset = backspacing − overall outside width / 2; mm = inches × 25.4.
Overall outside-lip width: 9 in · Backspacing to hub face: 5 in · Wheel offset ≈ ((5 in × 0.0254 m/in)-(9 in × 0.0254 m/in)÷2)×1000 · Offset in inches ≈ (12.7)÷25.4
How to use
- Measure overall wheel width across the outer lips.
- Measure backspacing from the inner lip to the hub face.
- Read signed offset; positive points toward the wheel face.
Examples
- Overall width 200 mm and backspacing 125 mm give +25 mm offset.
Frequently asked questions
Can I enter the stamped wheel width?
No. Stamped width is usually between bead seats. Measure outside-lip width; do not assume a fixed flange allowance.
What does negative offset mean?
The hub mounting face is toward the inner side of the wheel centerline.
Does this confirm vehicle fitment?
No. Verify bolt pattern, load rating, brakes, suspension and tire clearance separately.
