CBM calculator
Find total volume and weight for identical packed cartons.
Formula
V = L×W×H×n (m³); dimensional kg = V×1,000,000/divisor
Length: 20 in · Width: 16 in · Height: 12 in · Packed weight per carton: 20 lb · Total volume ≈ (20 in × 0.0254 m/in)×(16 in × 0.0254 m/in)×(12 in × 0.0254 m/in)×(2) · Actual weight ≈ (20 lb × 0.45359237 kg/lb)×(2) · Dimensional weight ≈ (0.1258526515)×1000000÷(5,000) · Larger weight before rounding ≈ max((18.1436948),(25.1705303))
How to use
- Enter the outer dimensions and packed weight of one carton.
- Enter the count and divisor in cm³/kg.
- Compare actual and dimensional totals before carrier rounding.
Examples
- Two 50×40×30 cm cartons at 10 kg each, divisor 5000, give 0.12 m³ and 24 dimensional kg.
Frequently asked questions
What does CBM mean?

Is 5000 a fixed tariff?
No. It is an editable example; use your carrier’s divisor in cm³/kg.
Is chargeable weight final?
No. It is the larger unrounded weight. Carrier rounding, fees and mixed carton sizes are excluded.
