Concrete block calculator
Count standard face units for one layer of blockwork.
Formula
Blocks = ceil[area / (module length × module height) × (1+extra/100)]
Net wall area: 200 ft² · Module length with joint: 16 in · Module height with joint: 8 in · Blocks per square meter ≈ 1÷((16 in × 0.0254 m/in)×(8 in × 0.0254 m/in)) · Blocks ≈ ceil(((200 ft² × 0.09290304 m²/ft²)×(12.10939922)×(1+(5)÷100))×(1-8.881784197001252e-16))
How to use
- Enter net wall area after openings.
- Enter nominal face dimensions including joints.
- Set waste and read whole blocks.
Examples
- 100 ft², 16 × 8 in modules and 5% waste need 119 blocks.
Frequently asked questions
Do I add the joint again?
No. Nominal module dimensions already include the intended joint.
Does block thickness matter?
Not for the face count of one layer. Thickness affects grout and other materials.
Are special blocks included?
No. Estimate corners, bond beams, pilasters and cuts separately.
