Volts to Joules Calculator
Find transferred electrical energy magnitude from constant voltage and charge magnitude.
Formula
E = QV.
Voltage magnitude: 12 V · Transferred charge magnitude: 2 C · Transferred energy ≈ (12 V)×(2 C)
How to use
- Enter the constant voltage magnitude.
- Enter the charge transferred at that voltage.
- Read energy in joules.
Examples
- 12 V across 2 C transfers 24 J.
Frequently asked questions
Can volts alone give joules?
No. The amount of charge must also be known.
Is this stored capacitor energy?
No. Charging a capacitor changes voltage; its stored energy is ½CV².
What about varying voltage?
E = QV applies at constant voltage. Otherwise energy requires integrating voltage over charge.
